Natalia Smalyuk
Natalia Smalyuk is an award-winning communications advisor and trainer with a global outlook and 20 years of hands-on experience in strategic communication, crisis resilience, and stakeholder engagement. She believes there is no such thing as “business as usual”—only an uncharted landscape of opportunity and risk.
With a passion for helping people and organizations fulfill their missions and live their dreams, Natalia equips leaders with the tools they need to advance their growth, manage their reputation, and navigate complex challenges.
Based in Toronto, Canada, Natalia is known for her ability to dig into the issues from a 30,000-foot view right to the core to uncover insights and pathways to value creation. She quickly zeroes in on the real problem – and the real story – positioning clients as thought leaders with strong, authentic narratives.
Natalia’s non-linear career spans international development, private business, news media, and communication consulting. She spent over 15 years with global and Canadian PR firms before founding NBAU (Not Business As Usual)—a Women Business Enterprises Canada-certified communication consultancy.
NBAU supports organizations before, during, and after adverse events with a planning and training model that enables positive action in an uncertain world.
Natalia works closely with executives in diverse Canadian and international markets to prepare them for all scenarios of change. Her client roster includes Fortune 500 companies, international institutions, healthcare, financial services, technology, education and public service organizations.
Away from work, you’ll find Natalia out exploring—traveling or hiking with her golden retriever, Misha.
